Unfortunately, I am parting with my Uniden ax144 am/SSB CB radio. This radio is in great working order. Does come with power cord. No microphone. loosecannon. Made this into a very nice radio. I consider him to be a great friend, Asking $100 Shipped. PayPal. Here are the repairs that he has done in his own words, As for the radio, here's what I changed:

all the pots and switches were cleaned and lubed.
new LED for the meter.
faceplate was a lovely shade of yellow, as were knobs, but that actually tends to help keep them from deteriorating as much. go figure.

Changed two caps in the mic amp circuit to open up the audio just a bit wider than stock for a fuller TX sound.

upgraded the AM regulator transistors to match the way the Galaxy radios did it.
this board uses the same scheme, but back then they didn't have it as robust as it is now.
these are the bigger transistors you see in the rear right corner.

upgraded the main filter caps for larger values for more headroom on modulation peaks.

did the assymetrical modulation mod to it so it does 130% positive peaks, and 95% negative peaks.

I upgraded the voltage regulator that controls the 8 volts on transmit since I added that relay and there is a bit more current draw on that circuit.
should be all good now.

full alignment. dead key set at 4 watts.

The PA jack is the one used to key the amp.

I would never use the EXT SPEAKER jack, as i always use an external speaker with all my radios.69605703_2517947378265192_7123413825482653696_n.jpg 71059054_775926786197379_4623145875936378880_n.jpg 70830095_708878172925862_2886401482440048640_n.jpg 71491888_370080787274504_3406327417017466880_n.jpg

I think he means he wouldn’t use the ext speaker jack for the amp keying jack. He used the p a jack for amp keying

the confusion here comes from the fact that CBkidd was quoting my description of the radio.

He had told me that i could use either jack for the amp keyer circuit, and i told him that i would only ever use the PA jack because i always used external speakers with my radios, and i figured everyone else did too.

so this radio got a relay installed in the PA jack that provides a closed contact with TX voltage so that it will key an amateur style amplifier.

I can see how it sounded confusing though LOL.

I apologize for any and all confusion. Had it not been for Matt, Being a great guy and working out a trade with me at the time. I would have not had a radio to talk on. Loosecannon Matt, Is an honest trustworthy and very knowledgeable person when it comes to electronics, And will go out of his way to help someone. Just my two cents, 73,
