Anyone got about 12.5 large burning a hole in their pocket? Imagine the hassle it's going to be parting this (beautiful) collection out? Anyone have Joe Walsh's phone number? Lol

I'd like to own it, maybe in my next life if it's allowed. I'll let the youngsters grab this one. They should be able to afford a station like that in another few years. Collins gear has been slowly going down in price. Knowledge of upkeep has diminished also.

Looks cool...but a flex with a leenyar would run circles around all of it.
You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who wouldn't agree, as far as performance, between the two goes.
It's either old timers, Collins collectors or people like myself who enjoy the nostalgia factory. The whole I love TUBES, ANALOG METERS and KNOBS thing. I'd take the SDR (Flex) any day overy the "antiquated" Collins equipment. One could always choose to use a tube leenya (lol) to scratch their nostalgia tubes, and knobs itch.
As a matter of fact I wouldn't be surprised to find many Flex (SDR) owners driving Heathkit, Henry, Collins ect ect lennya's along with their most modern technologically advanced SDR equipment. The cost of modern "superior" amplifiers is outrageous compared, to the name brand amps I mentioned above. With a few mods those old amps could easily be driven with modern transcivers (SDR included.) Those old smps still hold up when compared to something costing 4x (and more) the price of a brand new LDMOS amp. Sorry for being verbose. I "on occasion" go off on tangents. 73

Tubes are still king for qro. The solid state stuff is still too expensive for what you get IMO.

The Jupiter at least stays with the theme of using American made equipment whenever possible. I give him kudos for that. The Chinese have taken over so much of it nowadays.

He completes my dream station. I can either bask in the warmth with some Collins gear during the winter or glide across the hardwood floor in my custom chair to greet my air conditioned techno gear during the summer. Now that’s Ritchie Rich!

Yeah but for probably 99% of contacts it wouldn't make any difference. Unless you are into digging deep into the noise on a crowded band or want ECSSB the older gear will sound just as good make just as strong a signal. Ragchewing never requires filtering to the N'th degree.
