There's a few locals that talk nightly on channel 30. I'm 58 and the youngest of the bunch. Last night, a dude in a nearby village broke in and wanted a radio check on his old Cobra 2000. Said he just got all his stuff out of the attic, which hadn't been used for over for over 20 years, says he's 67 years old.

It was sorta cool. He hooked some other old rigs up. Old Cobra 89, Cobra 200, Saturn, Washington, Teaberry. He came back blasting some loud audio with echo. It was an old Echomaster. Of course, we said echo sucked, but the mic did sound good.

Then he brought the old amps out. SB220, some old Thunderbolt and various TS's, Palomar. Everything he had sounded good. I was talking to by buddy on 10 meters at the same time. I was like, might buy or trade some stuff off him. That's until he said: "I need to figure out these load and tune knobs". I'm surprised those old amps didn't go poof from sitting so long.

Anyways, it was some good conversation.

Possible, it almost sounded like he knew more than he let on. He hinted at selling stuff. He didn't really have anything I'd want. He did ask what a variac was, so IDK.

That's some good stuff right there! I am 47 and the youngster of my locat group. Of course my parents were "old" when they had me so I feel like I am part of an older generation......

I used to be one of the younger ones in the group, but now I find myself in the "older" category.

"My parents told me that when I was born I was very, very young."
