blew the c40 cap. don't now the value but know it's 50 volts any help out there. and don't know why i blew

The older schematic says it's 33uf at 25v so the 50v rating is ok and 33 to 100 uf i'm sure would be ok their ....maybe some rf got into it an let the smoke out ...good luck

thanks doc having a lot of power company noise close to trans former 35ft -- swr1.2 running 70 amp pyramid power supply no battery should i put a battery in line to stabilize power input

A 70 amp supply should be fine even if it is a Pyramid. I would add a fan to the heat sink area of the amp and don't over drive it.
