Ok guys need alittle help. I have a small box that has a sideband delay but no switch to turn it on and off. I want to add a switch but not sure what cap the delay is. Can anyone help? Here is a pic I am thinking it's the one by the transistor but want to make sure

I didn’t see the large one on the other side...I bet that’s it. See if you can trace it to the relay.

One side will go straight to ground, and the (+) should connect directly to the keying transistor and the relay coil.

I don’t think that either of the two small ones is big enough to keep the relay energized for any discernible amount of time. I’d guess it has to be the 470uf. I’d still try to trace it to the relay if you can, because the location makes no sense to me.

Also, this looks like one of the many variations of the Palomar/Galaxy/skipper 225. I had one with the automatic delay that would only delay when set at high power. It made the same power at medium, just with no delay.

Did you get anywhere with this yet?

I was doing some reading...and it seems that another way of making an SSB delay is to have a capacitor connected to the base of the keying transistor. If that’s the case, it’s just keeping the transistor on, and the capacitor will be much smaller than I would have guessed. It would be worth seeing if the 47uf is connected that way. On a TO92 case, that would be the center lead of the transistor.

Hopefully someone with more technical savvy and familiar with this amp can help you.
