Welcome 680, 5 batteries sounds like a lot. You should probably start a new topic with your questions so more people will see it.
I wish I could find someone selling a 2×8 mobile linear or2×6, asap, just that I learned the hard way now I need to see it work first $800.00 don't grow on trees I chalked it up that time no more anyone serious with something not halfway dead I'll buy Dave made fat boy
If you drive a lot and dont key a lot you'll be ok. Your stopping distance will be adversely affect by all that weight.
The truth is you can easily run a 2X8 with the right additional alternator and regulator, without a single battery inline! Up to 21 transistors have been run on one 250 amp alternator with nothing more than a lightweight capacitor bank to filter out the ripple. The regulator is modified to energize the field only when keyed so voltage is removed when the load is. The regulator also uses a diode to pulse the field from the stock 12 volt source in order to start the alternators magnetic field under load since no battery voltage would be present to do that.

Back in Baton Rouge....guys doing key dwn had Suburban Rigs. All had extra alternators, battery banks, cap set ups....running toobs and pop'n dem fluorescent lights for fun. They awl luved play'n on da bowl.
