Any decent UHF mount antennas besides Sirio?

That is correct, I accidentally used the term UHF connector at an Amateur meeting a few years ago, only a few people knew what I was talking about.

FWIW, CB frequencies used to actually be in the UHF band (477MHz).

Today CB is an HF freq.

A UHF connector IS a PL or SO. Sounds like a group of confused hams in that club.

No it isn't. UHF=N-Type. In fact talk to any ham or commercial installer and they'll tell you the last connector you want to be using on UHF is a PL259/SO239, with an argument for not using them at VHF either. You need to be using at least N-Type on UHF.

No it isn't, it is a SO239. It is described in the literature that Sirio issue for it that it is a SO239 magmount.
Hmm, well according to wikipedia someone is misinformed.

Although I understood what UHF stood for in the realm of CB antennas, I always referred to them as SO-239 terminations. After ordering and replacing so many of them over the years (4 and 2 hole screw mounts, plus single key hole types), using the full nomenclature is the only thing that immediately pops into my mind. At least everybody knows or should know what a SO-239 or PL-259 is without being confused with anything else. Actually, most of the hams I talk with rarely use the term UHF connector by itself, if ever. Doing so would only prompt the question, what type? There are so many different sizes and types that fit into the UHF connector category, especially nowadays.

I use PL's for VHF/UHF. They are cheap and what I usually have available. Sometimes, rarely, though, I'll use an BNC or N connector. Occasionally, depending how easy it is, I'll swap out the SO239 on my rig with an N.

Using "UHF" for V/U is acceptable for my needs. None of my cable runs for V/U are longer than 75'. I understand the the value of using N's and such, but for me, the benefits are nill.

Actually, I wish manufacturers would start using BNC or N's on radios shipped to the West. I believe that's how the European market it. The US market is slow, mostly due to hams being frugal.

Seems to have gotten through to most of us here without issue!

I’m not a ham, but I always saw them referred to as UHF connectors for as long as I’ve been involved in radio.

Amphenol calling them UHF connectors is good enough for me!

Manufacturers are slow to use "correct" nomenclature, I suppose. If I need an N or BNC, I just use those terms.

I also prefer BNC in the VHF/UHF spectrum. IMO they’re easier to work with compared to those SMA connectors found on many newer HT’s. Of course in staying with BNC I ‘m also forced to have a handful of various adapters on hand, but I don’t mind. Male and female SMA, F, and RCA adapters are all covered. Trouble is, they’re hard to keep track of and replacing some of the gold ones can get expensive. My parts organization habits are terrible sometimes when I get involved in a project. Small gold items often become bait for the Gremlins, their favorite dish. Eventually they crap them out someplace where I least expected, but only after they know I bought replacements.

I got aggravated not having the right adapters. I went on a buying spree and got a couple each, of about everything I could find. Has definitely come in handy having them. I ordered most from China as the price was right. I must say, they seem to be decent quality.

Thank goodness I'm not the only 1 that did that.
One of my criteria for my HT's is connector type. Only 1 with sma anything is a cheap baofung I use for SAR. If it gets wreck or lost, who cares. All others are bnc.
