is the galaxy 949 illegal

... edit...The Infamous Banned list that was copied and posted all over the internet was written by a FCC field agent that was confused as to what is legal and what is not.
It was not a rule, nor was it law.
The FCC counsel was forced to state in court, under oath, that the radios were legal to sell new out of the box...

... and still today, the experts on Da ZED , continue to quote that list.

It is all bullshit.
There are 1000's of hams using the 2510, 2600,Lincoln, RCI and other radios on the ham band's.
I bought my first 2510 new from Ham Radio outlet and still have it today, and have logged 1000's of contacts on 10 meters with it.
Legal as ice cream.
Just the other day I watched a review by a Ham about using the new President Lincoln II+ on 10 and 12 meters.
The guys that post that crap need to research the FACTS and not just post crap they find on the internet.
This was proved wrong decades ago.
What pisses me off is that they scare new operators off from buying perfectly good, LEGAL rigs because of some deep seated bias they have because they have connected these radios to CB and out of band operations.
The cycle is down now, but when the cycle comes back up these radios will become desirable again and people will copy and paste that same wrong list and post it all over the internet again.
10 meters is one hell of a DX band.
And these radios can be had at a very reasonable cost if not falsely presented as illegal by people that don't know better or have a chip on there shoulders.
Off the soap box.

I'm still blown away by how many of my fellow hams aren't aware of the rules. You can basically use anything as a transmitter as long as it meets the requirements in terms of not causing interference, splatter, etc. that's why hams often build their own equipment and can use it on air!

Here is a article I wrote a while back - apparently it's time to post it up again :)

Agree, but just ask 100 amateurs , and 95 of them will say an Amateur transmitter must be type accepted err,.................. certificated.

The fact is they don't need any FCC certification.
it seems counter intuitive, but, only Amateur receivers (and external amplifiers) are certificated.

CB transmitters do require certification.

I have very little respect left for the FCC anymore.

( There was a 25,000 word post here that took up 2 pages but I removed it because I don't want anyone to get a bad impression of me)

Do you want me to tell you what I really think?
Lol.
I am a old grouchy radio player that don't get enough coffee in the morning.
Oh.
And how many radios do they want me to own anyway?
Really?
When one can cover whatever I need?
( insert another 15,000 word rant about in unnecessary red tape/ regulations)

A recent essay on Women in Academia ruining same. As emotions preclude abstractions. Rather the point of University in the first place.

So I’d say (that) consideration of points being made as a knowledgeable user (tech info plus experience) has value especially if not posted by others elsewhere.

Ones take.

(25k is a big bite. But not if organized paragraph by paragraph, and then again as a whole. High school English class.)

The philosophical is what guides men’s choices. Personal, and philosophical, can be delineated separately. Even though it’s rhe former that cracks us up in recognition.

Whether or not WE LIKE YOU has to do with clarity.

Now, taste (aesthetic) is the harder goal to accomplish. Reason enough to 86 something. So, if you don’t mind, to print off the thing double-spaced and with wide margins is future feedstock once the editor has had his way. When things have cooled, the heat of the moment produced at its core

what matters & why

By no means are you alone, sir, in having wealth to spread.

This subject or others, let’s not be quick to throw off the mantle. We want our real or virtual sons to crack heads against wisdom.

(If you consider this a compliment, it was meant to be. Extending outwards to others who’ve felt the same rush).
