So when you run the dx 1600 what’s the volts on the power supply people say run atv14.5 15 volts I have 200 amp regulated power supply fat boy does good for me new dx 1600 amp Texas star running with stonewall Jackson base people tell me I’m loud on this radio compared to my rci 2995dx cf

Is running 15 volts to the dx 1600 to much I’m using as a base station stone wall Jackson 200 amp power supply fat boy very good coax 213 u times microwave just wanna know where to run voltage I usually leave at 14.5 be safe

Welcome! You should be safe with 14.5 and I think I run my 350 at 15. Back when Toshiba transistors were cheap and plentiful, guys would run 20v or more but those days are gone. The dei and hg transistors don't seem to be able to take as much abuse as the Toshiba. If you are not trying to get every last watt out of it then it will last a long time. The Jackson and 1600 is a great set up. I am looking at getting a 1600 myself.

I run 14.0 volts from a 150amp power supply, as I dont want to be to hard on the thing as its not really a comp box. just started playing with the at -6666, I usually drive the sweet 16 with my trusty old 2990DX and that thing really tickles the the sweet 16.

I operate all of my Texas Star amplifiers, (350's, 500's, 1600), at 14 ~ 14.5 volts.
In the radio room, I use regulated, variable power supplies for this.
In my trucks, my alternators output voltages run at 14 ~ 14.5 volts anyway.

Do you think running it at 15.volts would be bad and how many watts does the sweet 16 put out

There’s an estimate of power out/current draw on the first page of this thread that seems pretty realistic. If it were mine I’d run conservatively at 800-1000 out.

I would probably just run it around 14 to 14.5 max. Since the Toshibas are a thing of the past I personally wouldn't take any chances over a few watts.. better to be safe than sorry. Probably wouldn't drive the snot out of it either. Keep an eye on the heat level and put some fans on it if you haven't already. Good luck and 73
