Anyone have idea what the best NC Microphone would be for the RCI 2970N2? Have been Astatic fan for years. Looking for input. Possibly from someone who has had a 2950/2970 and actually compared microphones.

Recommendations for Best Mic on Ranger 2970N2

I have a 2950 and like the rK56 mic best with it. tried power mics and astatic but for me the RK56 has the best sound for my voice. all mics work different for different people. my brother-in-law sounds weak and wimpy with a RK56 on my 2950 radio. so to me you will just have to see what works for you.
I'm in toss up between RK56 and a 636L. Been missing my 148's which need work. Figure on buying a new N2 from Clay's. Getting a mic wired for it. Also expanded.
Figure if I'm paying for the tune, get it tuned to the mic. Never have tried RK56. Hear they sound good.

Ive been using the Turner mics on mine and get excellent reports. The original RK56 was\is an excellent mic. Never tried the new one. Heard the quality isn't there? The Astatic 636L gets Good reviews.

I always liked the 636 on my 2950/70's.. I added buttons to the top of mine for channel +/-. They are not a screaming power mic but I prefer a noise cancelling mic in the mobile.. I'm a loud CB talker anyway. Always got decent reports and I like the way the 636 feels in my hand.
Clay has a good ear. If he recommends a mike, I’d go with that. The shop tends to recommend the RK56 as default, so a phone call or a visit if you feel it’s not, “the obvious choice”.

Maybe a vintage one. The newer ones are smelly turds.
Awe man.....placed my order with a RK56 wired. Spoke with Clay and RK was his recommendation. Have couple of 636L's laying around, can get one wired or a 6 to 4 pin connection.
Interesting configuration......I see 4 pin and what looks like a HDMI plug. LOL. Or a 4 pin power cord for 'lectric skillit.
All bs aside I'll keep that set up in mind. For the price it's worth a try. Thanks.

I use them for bout everything. Just wire a 6 pin and you'll be golden. The stock element is good, but you can swap them out with a better one. I used to get an element from RS that sounded great.
The latest RK56 aren’t bad. The shop receives them boxed, not the retail blister pack. I can’t tell difference from the one I bought in mid-1990s.

The Galaxy 99v2 I bought from him in 2014 still sounds better with the Astatic 636L he tweaked for it than with any of the other dozen mikes I have.
