11 meter is very quiet?

In Delaware it's 33 degrees and cloudy. It rained earlier, but it had pretty much quit by the time I got off work at 3 this afternoon. It makes a wet and cold environment that will cut right through your coat and chill you to the bone. Not at all like the Canadian dry cold. Kind of like the Deep South humid summers vs the Albuquerque South West dry heat.

And no DX..............

Dead here in the Hog Yard, heard 1 fella on a loud and proud base talking to someone that I couldn't hear. Couldn't get him to respond.

34 degrees here in Northeast Florida Tonight & back in the upper 70's before the end of the week again.I wish it would Snow for at least a few days & sit on the ground.I would love it but my wife would not.She got caught in the Snow in Knoxville,Tennessee this morning & she is not having fun.I wanted to trade places with her so badly.I heard some skip again Today on 38 LSB but I just left it alone & went to 20 meters & worked some DX outside of North America.

SIX-SHOOTER

I really need my beam up soon ! The other day on 38 LSB I could hear them , but it really never set up for me & my A-99 to make any contacts . An op @ the other end of the state ( about 35 miles away ) was on a MR-4 & yacking to eveyone ! BTW 18* & windy here temps feel like it's in the single digits .

Once again on a NE SDR site and skip is rolling in from Chicago area to CT/MA fairly consistent. Nothing from any Southern states yet.

Woody, do you use one of the Kiwi SDRs?

My Grundig shortwave is giving me fits (wife left Harbor Freight batteries in it, which leaked). Unfortunately, that's what I used for monitoring band conditions from the house with no base setup.

I waited too long yesterday. Around mid-afternoon I heard (via NE sdr site) San Antonio and Austin so I knew it would be hitting the Houston area in a hour or so but by the time I got out there is was

Yep. Many of them have 11m capabilities as opposed to the websdr sites (I think there are only 2 of those that cover 11). I have one kiwi sdr in the UK (http://82.8.140.204:8901) where I catch them during their local am and ssb nets.

On my tablet I use the free version of Pocket RxTx-

Good deal. I really appreciate your input on this. I’ve been using Kiwi the past couple days and it’s been working for me. Nothing right by the house, but generally if the band open at any of the sites on the coast, then the open here too. I also used it to snoop on Europe and South America...pretty cool you can do that!

Now to find one for my iPhone...hadn’t even considered that before your post!

I like the ability to follow dx on sdr/kiwi site's in about 10 different states from Arizona to Maine. It gives me a good sense of where the action is moving to. On a couple of occasions I've actually used a site about 40 miles from my QTH to receive someone on 40m that I was talking to. I had to do that because I had a horrendous noise level at the time, but it worked great.

19* this Am w/No Wind . Now here's the good news ! (y) Put the dog out last night @ 6:30 Pm as usual & turned my radio on after , Glad I did ! Dx was like it use to be w/locals back in the late 70's/80's !:) No Lie ! I started on Ch 1 (AM ) & made my first contact it was short Dx , Op in Boston said he was taking tolls after I called out . I hit another stage & said " Don't worry about me I have an Easy Pass ! Not sure he appreciated that . Then proceeded up the channels Except 6 ( too many Big Radio's but now I wish I tried ) . I got bored after going in sequence to Ch 9 ( Bust also but I'm Old School & still think it for Emergencies ) Then I stated skipping a few , but passing them they had active Dx . Went up the SSB Channels & made contacts there . Iv'e been on 11m over 50 years & never have I seen conditions on my end like this being so thick & being able to participate in it !:) I hope it happens again but wow it got confusing w/ all the op's coming back to me and having to respond to them in the proper sequence .:ROFLMAO: I hope this happens again ! Did anyone else have these conditions last night ? Most of my contacts were Nc, Georgia , Tn & Sc ! 73 , Leo
