11 meter is very quiet?

I really need my beam up soon ! The other day on 38 LSB I could hear them , but it really never set up for me & my A-99 to make any contacts . An op @ the other end of the state ( about 35 miles away ) was on a MR-4 & yacking to eveyone ! BTW 18* & windy here temps feel like it's in the single digits .

Magnum, I have a new IMAX up on a 18' pole. I dug out the Sirio Tornado 27 yesterday morning, never had it up. Right now I can talk further than I can hear, will be very interesting to see what the 27 will do. Hopefully within the next coupla weeks I'll get it up.

I had been on my old Royce 642 earlier, but I had swapped over to the RCI 2980 to get a lower dk for the Gray 300. Had been on AM some also, made several contacts there and SSB.

That +2 is no slouch.

Gotcha that time:

Of course I bumped the clarifier in the wrong direction the second time you keyed, so no, that wasn’t on your end it was operator error right here ;)

dled , You are fortunate ! I check the uppers daily ... Zip , Zilch , Nada !

After a week or so of silence, the band opened up for me yesterday. I had worked all of the stations I heard already, so I held off for countries I hadn’t heard, but didn’t manage to work any (I need Paraguay!).

Anyway, what I’ve been meaning to tell you is that 90% or more of the activity I’ve heard lately is from 1830-2130 UTC time. 27.555 is usually where I stay, but sometimes I’ll check 27.500- 27.600 in 5kc steps. 27.455 is a good beacon freq for conditions to Central and South America, and the Caribbean.

The remaining 10% is totally and completely random, day or night.
