Just some idle conversation. Year after year the conversation of Cber’s using Ham equipment modified for 11 meter is bad , bad ,bad. Reason told that is the belief the modified radios are also being used on ham Bands,. That is such a load of crap. They use converted equipment to get better radios, simple as that, no dark motives. I am sure there will be some that give an example of abuse as with everything else, but no more than a ham pumping out gigawatts,lol, and splatter also, and yes my dear friends Hams splatter too,amps are cheap, get some new ones PLEASE. There are many many clueless operators out there. So how about we lighten up on the Cber’s that are putting down the bucks for new radios and better equipment. Truth is the massive amount of 10 meter rigs sold and modified is the reason new Ham rigs are even on the market(few at that), the 10 meter rigs are the candy to the radio company's, without that they cant do R&D to make the new stuff, they sure aint making any money of the Hams that are using 25 year old equipment,lol. Ok, everyone have a nice Holiday Season. oh and one more thing, Please stop saying in your ham radio for sale ads, 'sale to Licensed ham radio operators only',stupid remark and not legal, no Ham is going to buy your old junk, be grateful a CBer might want it and your radio can live on. See you on the bands, your choice which ones :)

CB / ham threads...you know where this is going, right?

I want to like ham radio, but 99.9% of what I hear sounds very boring. I hadn’t listened in a while and tuned into a local 2m net the other night. Bunch of guys answering questions in a round table format about what they ate for each meal that day. Maybe the hobby is exploding in numbers - I don’t actually know - but it’s hard for me to imagine much that Ive heard on the air attracting newcomers.

I guess at least they weren’t on echo mics with roger beeps and fake pingers and other noise toys...that’s the trash CBers are stuck dealing with.

At some point I’d like to get a license because I want to chase some VHF DX, and there’s just no other way to do that.

Anyway, more to the point, I don’t know any CBers that try to talk on ham bands with no license. Most seem to think that’s a good way to get in trouble.

The "problem" with ham gear on 11m is that it is not type accepted by the FCC. What is funny is when a ham will only sell to another ham and the equipment has the MARS 11m modification............ I don't think it matters much what people run for CB equipment as long as it is clean. I always run low pass filters and make sure I do not overdrive my equipment. Attracting unwanted attention from the FCC is never good no matter what band you are on.

Neither stupid nor illegal. It is my right as a seller to decide WHO I sell too Period. I can dictate that I will only sell to trans-gendered clowns with purple hair if I want too. NOTHING illegal about it. No different than saying only within the 48 states or pick up only. No shipping. And furthermore I don't sell junk simply because I don't OWN junk.

Now lets see how this turns out before the inevitable happens.

Really? The massive amount of 10 meter rigs sold and modified..? Are you referring to a fully capable HF rig or an export? I dont think they, as in ranger.. galaxy..connex.. are selling a massive amount of anything. This is a niche market with little in the way of research and development. The big 3 dont make these types of radios. Plenty of new offerings from the big 3.. especially Icom. The big 3 dont design HF rigs for the cb market anyways. I know plenty of hams that use equipment made within the last year or 2.. and they are planning their next purchase already. So dude either I'm totally not following you or in my opinion... fail.

Hi, Have not heard you on the bands lately, Maybe soon. Guess I stirred the pot a bit huh?,lol. I think whats amazing if you post something like this the HAMs think you are not a Licensed HAM Operator. I just dont wear my call sign as some perverted symbol of status and sure do enjoy 11 meter,and some crazies for sure but in general its fine. Lots of CBers do spend a lot of time and money on a proper station. Its also funny that the largest and well known SSB 11 meter DX operators are pretty much all Licensed HAMs in many countries including this Country(USA), and also the largest SSB clubs are pretty much all started and run by HAM's, lol. Anyway have a nice Holiday Season over on your side of the sound, hope to make contact as conditions improve....

Ok back under my rock. Please do not tell my Locals on 22 I am a pervert. Oh wait they know me. Helped a few of them put up antennas.

Don't let vhf give you a bad impression of amateur radio. Nets in general are like watching paint dry. Vhf/uhf in my area has turned a lot of newcomers back to 11m. HF is the place to be if you want to ragchew.

There are a couple of cbers here that go talk on 28 mhz when they want to discuss something privately. The rest of the crew is smarter than that.

The funny part about going to 28 is you don’t need to do that to get somewhere quiet. If one has the ability to go that far they can probably go anywhere in between, in 5kc steps, or even a different mode. It makes little sense to go into the ham bands, even if you don’t care at all about the rules.

As far as ham bands...I’ve listened to the lower HF bands a bit, but it’s still pretty dry. I think I might find more interest in 20-10m DX if I listened there. I have pretty much zero interest in 2m-70cm and beyond.
