11 meter is very quiet?

I tell you what. I had a local that heard me talking to 999 in Windsor, Ontario

He texted me on the phone and said my "audio was loud and drowned out the hornets nest of chatter"
I think that beam is somehow making my audio sound louder than it does off the ground plane?? Probably just the gain difference between the antennas? or maybe it's because I'm on the flat side instead of the vertical ?? I dunno. Going to have to look into that.
 
Nothing here, so I'm hanging out on an SDR site. This guy was easy to find as pictured below. He may be "loud and proud" but while on ch.28 AM he's splattering from below ch.10 and well above ch.40..

Yup. Typical class C biased amp. Can you imagine what his signal would be like if it was all being transmitted on 28 instead of all that IMD power broadbanded up and below the set channel? I have a few around here that run at least 600-1000 w just to talk down the street from each other. I could never figure that one out.
