Ok so a buddy of mine used to run the DX-1200 in his tri-axel when I was driving a dump truck , It screamed but it got beaten to death and died . He then retired and I bought most of his gear and passed on the beat up 12 Gauge . I ran into him for the first time in years and he told me he forgot he had purchased TWO of those bad boys so he could get a better deal an put the second one in the closet . So he whips it out and low and behold there she is brand spankin new in the box with the plastic on it with the receipt taped on top !!(y) He told me to pay him what I think is fair , at the same time would like to get close to what he paid ($799.99 but I know he got a deal for buying 2 and that was a small local cb shop price . I like this dude and don't want to offend him but I was thinking $400-$450 (or less lol) .

What are you guys thinking is a fair "friend price" ?

I found a rough one on fleabay for $450 obo so I was actually thinking of going down to $350o_O

Cast your votes for fair value of a NOS DX1200 guys

Thanks a lot as always !

Is it Toshibas?

$450 = a DX500 with DEIs in it...

Its never had the hood off but from what I have red it should have red-dot Toshibas in it . Please don't flame me if im wrong but I only had an approximate sale date to go on ;( It may have sat in the store for years and could be red dots but im not 100% . Im heading over tomorrow (sunday) going to pop the tins !! And bring $450 with me !

Red dot or not does not really matter. It should have 8 Toshiba 2290's, I would jump on it for anything $600.00 or less. On E-Bay the dude could probably get $800.00 or more with nice pics of it in it's original box.

If you do end up getting this amp make sure your system is set right and don't smoke the finals. It looks like a matched Quad of Toshiba 2290's is running $224.00 so you will have $450.00 in just the finals to repair it.

Well we went out to dinner tonight . He asked me for $250 ! I told him I couldn't do that gave him $400 and told him to hold on to it and google around . I have a feeling he is hurtin for holiday money so Im not going to beat him up he is a good dude. Him and his son are going to come by tomorrow with a load of stone for my driveway and the amp . Im going to try to give him an extra hundred for the "stone" . Hopefully he doesn't google this thread lol But for the record guys Im not buying the amp to flip it I recently had my base amp "disappear" from a local "techs shop" (see other thread) so I will be gently be running this amp personally and will have it forever . This guy showed me the ropes when I started driving the dump and I like him and his family so Im not trying to make a buck off of him .

Thanks for all the input guys I will post final results and some pics when I get her inline !

73's and thanks again , Brian

It sounds like this is a good guy that needs some money to buy his family some gifts.
If he sells it to you for $400 bucks you should throw in a nice big bottle of some really old Scotch.
And you really are getting a deal.
A real steal of a deal.
My bet is non red dot original 2290's.
Drive it gently with maybe a dual final radio and put a fan kit on it.
No high power Stryker.
Good for you!

Thanks AudioShockwave I ended up giving him $500 total and I will get him his Glenfedich Single Malt (thanks for the reminder) I have not cracked the tins yet its still boxed on the bench ! I will get it inline with the Connex 3300 HP on low 2.5 swinging 25 but I will back that down a bit ! Im looking at the fan kits now and just ordered a 4awg car audio amp kit to wire it to the distribution block after the supply and will post pics asap ! I wire both of my power supplies with car audio oxygen free Amp installation kits . I had a thread about safe bench wiring years ago but it disappeared so Ill post that again too !

DX was all over the band tonight ! I was all over the country on the two pill and the vertical dipole it was great !!

Thanks again everyone ! Will update with pics or videogate if the conditions are right!.
