11 meter is very quiet?

Not that I am aware of, but I just spin the dial & skip right over them since I have nothing I need to say to anyone there & I have nothing I need to hear from anyone there. If I want to speak with or hear a child on the radio, I will speak with my Grandson on FRS & at least he will make some sense & just talk not make unneeded & unwanted noises & not be screaming & talking to himself. He is being raised properly & knows that a transceiver is for communications & NOT playing childish games. He is more grown up than 99.9% of those & he is only 9 years young.
That's nice to hear, then in five years, when he's already 14, he'll certainly be active on all amateur bands as well. ;)

I have plenty of gear to get him on all bands fro 160 meters to 220 mhz & everything in between.I am sure he would have no issues with the questions since he is a Straight A Student & has been since his 1st day in school.

SIX-SHOOTER

Turned on the mobile yesterday, on 38lsb I heard a few stations but they were in the weeds.

Took care of those weeds here. Be listening.

Well, I decided to switch over to the 5 element on the flat side from the ground plane because I wasn't hearing anything on 38LSB. I tell you what, it's a whole new world out there. I heard a couple of guys talking. Maybe hitting me at 3 1/2- 4 S units. I decided to give them a call. The first guy that came back to me was unit 813 in Eagle Harbour, near Anchorage, Alaska. When I was finished talking to him, unit 144 "Jim" from Noam, Alaska came back to me. They both said I was doing between 5 and 7 S units way up there. All I have to say is AWESOME!!!
