Anytone AT-5555 or AT-6666

Thing's still in warranty. I already started a return on it. Just gonna have to wait without a radio for a day I suppose. I just don't want the knob breaking on me completely in the future...

Seems to be a common issue with the encoder in them. I own 2 of them one older and another about 5 months old and both with the same quirk. Seems to be the nature of the beast and for me although annoying it's livable. Not sure why they don't just use a better control when they're built ...

Several threads on this topic, I won't start a new one. Hope to get a reply. Of the two, 5555 or 6666, which is working better for you in a mobile. I'm a trucker running a 980 on the dash mount now and have issues seeing the display in the sun. I like the accessibility of more controls up front on the 5555 vs. Menu, but the 6666 seems to pack in a little more (power and filter). Display issues aside, they both sound to be a step up from the 980.

Welcome! I have the 5555 and it has a lot of features and is probably the best bang for your buck. I have not seen the 6666 but I think I is a little smaller than the 5555. The 5555 can be put in 11m mode with a few button pushes on the front. There is another thread here, just do a search. I have my 5555 in my truck and like it better than the Galaxy 99v that it replaced.

I have the 6666 in my pick up and love it. The 11 meter converssion is a snap.
Press MENU and BAND buttons at the same time and then turn on the radio. You now have 11 meter's. :)

Owned both 5555 and 6666. I did like the 5555 for the knobs. Not nearly as compact as the 6666. They both have variable power but 30w on 5555 on SSB Max vs about 50w or so on the 6666.

Like others said both use a combo of buttons to get 11m. 6666 was dead nuts on freq. for SSB, Some users report the 5555 was a tiny bit off once and awhile.

Currently running 6666 as base, run without kicker and on good skip days I still get great reports. If I run my Elite 400 and 6666 set at about 20w max swing with SSB I have no problems jumping in the sandpiles banging just over 300w with my meter.
