Got a decent looking trc 449 but no transmit at all. I replaced the relay with one from a working radio, and nothing not even a peep. Tried another mic, nothing. I manually keyed the relay and it does put out power on am so finals are good. It acts like an issue between the mic and keying circuit. Anybody got any ideas?

C179 . then bias. Then AM power (4watts) then SSB (14-16watts)
Follow alignment per manual.
If you don't have the manual, ask. I know many of us have it. If not the TRC-449 from cbtricks works.

try checking parts around the relay. some I have had a problem with causing problems. R111, D24, C103, D28, R112 which is a 1 watt resister. I have had some of these short causing problems. even some on the right side of the relay also. the parts I listed are on the front side of the relay.

does the relay key when you push the mic key. at least that is what I am getting is the relay does not switch when the mic is keyed.

If the problem is the relay itself; then DO NOT FILE the contact points in the relay ! ! !
You will RUIN it, and they are unobtainium.
Use a burnishing tool ONLY.
And DO NOT LOSE the small spring on the relay either ! ! ! !

Dumb suggestions, but that's my specialty:

Checked that all your voltages are there?

Checked the setting of, and connections to, the CB/PA/MON switch?

Checked continuity from the mic connector pin 3 through to the relay?
