So I’ve been watching a few vids on the tube and noticed that the meters on their radios are swinging like it’s on ssb when it’s on AM. Like all the way to the wall when they modulate. How is this done and why? Is it a type of Mod?

Butcher mod.
Don't bother.
Mike
Thanks sp5it. So it’s probably just for looks? I’d like to know how it’s done just Incase I come across a radio that does that and I want to return it to stock. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Butcher mod I meant are widely available swing kits doing only a harm to the signal.
NPC-RC is different pair of shoes. Works as it should - good. One condition: it is not just plug and play. You need at least signal generator, scope and knowledge. I've done it in many radios, 180% positive modulation on dual final radios can be achieved with clean signal.

Thanks Mike. Got the generator and scope and now slowly getting the knowledge from you fine folks. I really appreciate it. Does the NPC mod also affect the radios meters swing? Or just on the external meter?

Hey Mike, you mentioned dual final radios. Could it be done to a single final radio? Like the cobra 29ltd Classic? I have an extra one that I could try it on. It might help me understand the process a little better.

The 29 is a good candidate. Look up the cap and resistor swing mod or tip120 variable dead key mod.

Nomad sells a peel and stick variable kit for the cobra 29. It will let you set the deadkey anywhere you want and still swing to max pep.
Thanks 543 Dallas. I’ll look into it. I really appreciate all the help.. Just want to say how Awesome this site is.
