11 meter is very quiet?

Not that I moved much yesterday off my home channel 21 , because I had too much AM action . But I did pop up to 38 LSB every once in a while and it was either quiet or wasn't quite set up yet on my end .:confused:o_O This seems to be happening on a regular basis , and forget the uppers , Zip , Zilch , Nada .

Welcome to the forum. I have not turned on my CB in awhile. Should do that though and monitor for SSB DX. Got my ham license this last year. Having a total blast with FT8. I'd still like to have some fun with11 meters though. Local traffic has pretty much died out. A few gravel yards are on. A company running dump trucks is on 8 around the area. One guy on 19 loves his noise toys and drives truckers nuts with it. Right now I am in the midst of putting up 15/12/10 meter antennas. I have all the other antennas for the lower bands up and running. Gotta get the upper bands going but cold weather has slowed that down. Thinking of putting up a 11 meter inverted V for any skip. Locals just aren't there to worry much about.

Around here I just get the locals on 21 who are all about 10-15 miles away, they can only hear me with help but they come in decent barefoot. My old A99 needs a little more elevation, 24' has the tip about level with the rooftop.

I do have female on CH17 local, I believe across town (doubt even a mile away), and she splashes from 17 up to 23 when she talks, but on 17 she is crystal clear, except that she mumbles - I think that she just talks to herself on the air.

I remember late 90s there was a group of us all about the same age that ran around playing CB tag, just chatting, etc. Then we all grew up and moved/got married. I could go for some of those times again...

Well......got a little skip for couple hours. One central Fl. and the gang out there in Az. Az. was hearing Houston in there, but I couldn't hear em. Things faded now, but some out there in the static.

Phoenix has one guy that really cuts through clear, like FM radio. Not sure what he's running, but sure is crystal.
