I was bored today.

Right church wrong pew.

It's a home built HF amp for 1.8-30 MHz. continuous. It will use a 3CX3000A7 ceramic tube which will eat a Maco-750 for breakfast and still be hungry. ;) The tube has a plate dissipation of 4000 watts and a grid dissipation of 225 watts making it almost impervious to over driving with a 100 watt exciter as well as tuning errors. Power supply will make 4500 volts for the high voltage supply.

:D :D :D :D :D
A lot of forum members are turning green with envy as we speak. Well done.

Oh crap......this means I may have to upgrade some pieces of feedline eventually when things are done. Not sure I want to trust foam dielectric RG-8. It's only rated for 300 volts and that's only 1800 watts. My legal limit is 2250 pep or a full 750 watt carrier on AM plus 100% modulation for a peak power of 3000 watts on AM mode. o_O
<sigh> yet not enough for ch 6 . . . lulz . . .

I’m trying to figure out what I need to move any possible future monsters down in the basement or back upstairs again. I managed installing a new hot water heater in the basement a few years back. I laid planks on the steps for it to slide on. A block and tackle was hooked up at the top. It worked, but it was a struggle. Not to mention the hassle of walking it vertically side to side for 30 feet to get it into position. This would have been relatively easy task years ago, but no longer. I once managed to carry a Johnson Valiant up and down stairs with little effort, but I soon realized my limitations after moving my SB200 (relatively lightweight amp) to the basement. My shaking white knuckled left hand held tight to the railing while the amp dug into my side cradled under my right arm. Such fun…. Think to the future guys. If you like to be totally independent, and undertake heavy projects, buy a large home with extra rooms where everything is on the ground floor.
