Base 1/2 wave horizontal dipole question

kk4obi: Welcome! Glad your here!...Good info on your site.
The best visual reference I could find to show the info.
Yes S&W357 was asking about 11-meter dipoles. I think I picked the info referencing 10m antennas which would be very close.
I'll always try to find good info, to help anyone wishing to build and use their own antennas!
The best part of the Hobby IMHO.
Now if we could just get BOTH of these 357's to get their tickets, their DXing would jump to a level they have never enjoyed.:rolleyes::)
Most certainly under the present and several years to follow yet conditions.
EX: They could be working down to Near S. America (Trinidad & Tobago) today with 20m dipoles and 100 watts!!!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

BJ, I envy you.

Marconi: I'm just a little pissel compared to many.
I do know I can build in most cases cheaper and More effective HF antennas than any off the rack type.
Unless one has DEEP pockets and can buy and have installed big $3000 beams on $15,000 towers.
Otherwise, there are many alternative antennas that can be made from simple materials (wire and or tubing) and work well for the common operator.
A good well made quarter-wave Ground plane is ONLY about 1.5 dbd less than any 5/8th's wave GP...Why spend $150 -$400 for that kind of gain. The only reason is bragging rights and Hurricanes!
If your antenna does not come down in the first really BIG storm, guess what?
It was not high or big enough:ROFLMAO::love:

Dipoles in a lateral angled configuration work just fine. I have been using the setup outlined in the image for several years and have made many contacts (granted this is not 11m but the theory applies).
