Rocket Box 1000XL

One thing I can tell you is that 200 watt drive level is not happening with a 10 pill version as the 1000XL board is shown on page 1. That will definitely require disconnecting the drivers and using only the 8 finals. Unless you add a high power attenuator.

Yeah I hear yeah Shockwave, but Think he was going to offer a straight eight as well as the 2x8. Anyway see if this comes to market.
Cheers!

He has not said anything since he reported some " Audio Problems" with it he was trying to work out.
He is not very good at answering questions that have been posted in the thread......
Would be great to see a vid of one of the units in operation .... Or something.

He posted on FB that he's trying cases and layouts just now. I guess patience.
Cool but since the board is made, the layout is locked in now. In my "RF opinion" it is the layout that is probably causing the "audio problems." On the other hand, I sure understand that these things can take time to perfect.

I had asked if he had any control over the manufacture/design of the boards being used.
I am now guessing they are a " off the shelf" board and what you see is what you get.

I know he has the boards made for him. I'm guessing the original 250 model may have been based on the old Palomar/Galaxy FET models. But this is new animal for the 1000 model so I doubt off the shelf.

I know his 500 models have had good reviews and repeat customers from looking at the posts on FB.

I'm going to go on a limb here and guess my Palomar 4 pill with 1446's is a train wreck for RF and seeing how these mosfet models are geared for CB guys I wouldn't expect the best. I'm guessing a crossover like the RM503/505 is slightly cleaner in RF stuff. Most guys just want power and not super concerned about spurious omissions.

The SD1446 is a real RF linear output transistor that is infinity better at this job than anything like the ERF9530. If your primary concern is just power and signal, you should be aware that those spurious emissions impress the watt meter but can take away from the fundamental signal strength substantially.

I've seen enough cases where a 10 pill oscillated and showed a kilowatt on the watt meter but a clean 100 watt 2 pill showed a stronger signal on the receiving meter. While that is a severe case, just going Hi-Fi and doubling your bandwidth, will effectively cut your signal by 3db at the same transmitter power output. The watt meter measures everything but the only thing that matters is the fundamental signal strength.
