11 meter silence

just remember, you can't tell if the channel is empty until you key up and break the silence.

These days i think a lot of us turn on the radio while we are doing something else, like browsing a forum...
used to be it was only the TV that got in the way, and you were either watching TV in another room or on your radio and that was it.
(having the TV in the radio room tended to be a problem for many LOL)

i have to use a foot pedal if i actually want to talk as my hands are usually busy soldering etc. it never fails that as soon as you start desoldering the pins of an IC, someone calls you on the radio.

I do that.....turn it on and walk away waiting. But lately have not even tried calling out. Busy doing stuff. LSB has been static and not even passing OTR driver talk out there. Had to go out and see if my antenna was there.

Trying to get another breakover built, ran into engineering difficulties and had to revise.

On 75 Meters a lot of people use VOX for that. Keys up automatically when you talk.

Had many contacts today from North Texas to the midwest. Plenty of contacts to Chicago. Then somehow I made contact with 737 from the east coast of South Carolina. He was the only one from the part of the country I heard. He must have on heck of a nice antenna setup.

Currently sandbagging on the Superbowl. Was listening to motor mouth maul dxing with someone going by black judge, I just don't know where. 147 in Jamaica just keyed up & started chatting with motor mouth maul. Kinda interesting to listen to some of those guys. Some of them sound so darn good, & clean; then some if them sound like crap...
I'm barely picking MMM (easier than tapping out the whole thing...) on ground wave, he is only 40 miles from me & there are a few hills between us. He is one to listen to, he always sounds clean & clear.

What kind of setup does he have, do you know?

Honestly, I have never met him in person. I have chatted with him a few time when I was up near him & he was running around in his mobile.
I have seen a video off him & BBI chatting.

I believe this video was shot in MMM's station.

Interesting stuff. MMM seems to know his stuff. BBI lost me though, when he suggested that the idea that CW gets through when nothing else can is because it has a high audio tone. o_O
Does he seriously think CW has an audio tone?

From what I have heard from more than a few different local ops MMM does a lot of broadcast radio work for more than a few different stations locally. I think he does set up, repair work, & the like.
Take this as 2nd/ 3rd hand knowledge as I have never met the man in person.
