CB Tricks site UPDATES/THREAD MERGERS

are you looking for me?

Howdy!

I was just kind of kidding, but your vocation was noted in this thread as a necessity for someone who might want to take over the CBtricks site because of copyright and stuff like that.

always good to see you around the forum, and i am curious if you've been involved in any big time radio cases these days, but if you don't mind my asking;
do you know what might be involved in the legalities of purchasing and operating a website such as CBtricks?

either way, please let us know how you are doing these days.

Maybe you just like the sound of my name.

Ha ha Nope I have no interest in buying cbtricks. Always wonder why Bennie doesn't reach out for help as there is a few talented guys in here that would help him.

The last posting I did on CBtricks forum was some pictures and info about my 4-1000 amplifier, next day it (forum)was gone/down.

Sure be nice to get Bennies broken database from the forums.

You know who I miss on this forum is SwitchKit. He always had interesting stories and had a ton of info from the late 70's to 80's.
And of course the CarolinaPirate.

Bennie did reach out. The smart ones didn't want the headache.
I'd just like to have some honest-truth answers from Bennie...

Brutal or otherwise.

I'd just like to know why things went so wrong so quickly...

I've been down before, kicked to the curb - but I've come back and if I can do it, I know others can too.

Sat Feb, 15 2020. I think it really may be gone. I am working on a radio and just went to CB Tricks not a single thing will open. Radio information also will not open.

Yeah I've been checking regularly and can't get anything either. I think we all knew it was eventually coming and now we're seeing it come to pass. I've been using the last sent cbt CD on the computer, I'm glad to at least have that part of it.

glad to see you are still around and checking in to the forum!

always curious where your ventures are taking you these days, but you probably can't talk about that LOL.

and yes, i like saying seedkey.

switchkit hasn't been around in a long time. he kind of just disappeared with the last skip cycle.

and now for some conspiracy theories!!! yay!!!

not sure if any of you follow a youtuber by the name of Louis Rossman, but he is a repair tech that works on Apple products, and is constantly embattled with them because they don't want people to be able to fix their products.
Apple, like every other tech company makes their money by making repair so difficult and expensive that it is cheaper for the consumer to just buy another Apple product.

tech companies DO NOT want consumers getting their electronics repaired these days, and there is a bill going through the senates of various states called the "right to repair bill".

lobbyists from the big tech companies are fighting this bill by saying that their intellectual property is at stake when the real reason they are against it is because if you get your old Apple Macbook repaired, then you won't buy a new one.

they want the earth's landfills to be PACKED with old electronics so they can sell new ones.

because of all of this, companies are no longer providing service information under the guise of protecting their intellectual property.

Can anyone say UNIDEN???

Uniden had the unmitigated gall to say that they would no longer provide schematics and service manuals for their CB radios because they were afraid someone would steal their super secret CB radio technology.

yep that's right, they actually made that statement.

The conspiracy theory here is that Ranger has now followed suit, and no longer wants all those schematics out there so that people will be forced to buy a new radio when theirs breaks.

could it be that they have gotten to Bennie???
paid him off???
put the squeeze to him???

make no mistake folks, we live in a throw away society and those of us who try to keep our cars running longer, repair our own appliances, and restore old electronics are the ENEMY in the eyes of the big corporations.

Loosecannon,
I think your on to something. It is awfully suspicious that Bennie site went down when Ranger said that his site(Bennies) was costing them money. Ranger could make a lot more money on repairs with cbtricks being down. You know when a golden screwdriver gets in them.

Hows that? Is that a good conspiracy ?

Thank you SO SO MUCH for that!!!!!
I pulled it down, un-rared it, and am putting it on my big honker thumb drive with all of my other radio materials... so I will have it "in my pocket" so to speak!!!

Thanks!!!!
What program Did You use to Un rar The Down load with I tryed to un zip it but can not find a progren in windows 10 to work??

Hopefully some help for you Snow Bird!!!

For me...I happened to be on my lunch break at work and did it on my Mac laptop using UNarchive. So that won't help you.

BUT...... here are a couple of suggestions.....

WinZip - well known for years.... it is a "pay for" product...but they DO have a free version that I believe will still open RAR files. I do not know if the free version is crippled in any other way.....

Link: https://www.winzip.com/landing/down...WEFQOz0bT7dFIjl-tcnPrArBHb-VBYxxoCMNQQAvD_BwE

Another one I found is totally free and saus it will handle RAR files as well... Zipware

Good luck and let me know if I can help you further.....

Bob
