I know I have a tendency to post a few threads asking for opinions. Today on my way to work, I got struck in a line up behind a traffic accident on I-79 and had to ask what was going on. I was happy there were a few drivers that spoke English, as a first language, on 19 on a Saturday. Talking on a CB, setting up antennas, doing mobile installs, matching antennas, upgrades, restoring classic radios, setting up base stations, helping other with radio equipment is all just plain fun and enjoyment for me. We all have hobbies, ours just brings a smile to me- just like today or any other day. Today, keyed up the mini Stryker, "89MC v2- first 10 meter for me," and in my mind I was that 9 year old boy talking on a 23 channel Robyn, with my dads permission of course, in his 1980 Suburban. My dad pulled a 19 foot Wilderness camper with the Suburban, so all the family that went camping with us had CBs in their vehicles. The local channel around Washington PA area was 3. Most of my dads friends had a base station too. We had a 23 channel Royce base that set next to the TV in the family room. He would turn in on in the evening. My mother wound turn it down. A couple years ago I picked up a Cobra 29 with the old style Cobra power mic, 40 channel. When I finally opened the box I was surprised that the screws had never been removed from the covers, she was a virgin. In my mind all I could imagine was that someone worked hard and saved, back in 1977 to buy himself a new cobra 29.
