Amplifier HELP!

I have 50 amp maxi fuse with 6ga cables rigged up to check the 700 watt 350watt should be enough for those but like I said i don’t think I can test the 1000watt fat boy

I don’t think it’s enough for 700 watts, to be honest, if that amp will actually do that much.

It’s pretty typical to see an amp draw of 10 amps per 100 watts, in an amp with no internal driver.

I don’t know anything about the MS700, but if the amp produces rated power, I’d expect more draw than 50 amps...probably 75-80.

EDIT: I went and looked up the 700 to see what’s supposed to be under the hood: 5 X SD1446.

In that case, it’s not going to draw 75-80 amps. The other news, it’s not going to produce 700 watts either.

I tend to agree on the other numbers..but a fatboy 8 pill for $225?

Yeah, probably worth more, but looking at the conditions of those things I would be scared to pay very much for them. Usually people that don't take good care of their equipment on the outside don't treat it very nice on the inside.

I'm not real impressed with Midnight Special amps, the couple that I've tried over the years had issues and didn't sound great. Keep in mind the Fat Boy is just AM as well.

If the variable knob on the Frat Boy hasn't been burned out yet, this would allow you to try it out on a 50-Amp power source. Just start out with the control turned to minimum.

If you can get the control turned partway up and see decent power before the power supply bogs down, it would be better than no test at all.

And if that control is not burned out yet, this would be a good sign that it hasn't been driven with excess power yet.

And if the control is burned and won't adjust properly, that's pretty typical.
