Hi all, I don't know whether or not this topic is worthy of it's own thread but I couldn't find one to build on so here it is...
I'm trying to restore an old Turner+2 SSB Transistorized desk mic and can't seem to find a good touch up paint for the blue color on the mic. Has anybody ever found a good match color for this? Any help would be appreciated. 73

Thanks Tallman!! Those are both great ideas which I never even thought to try. I will be on my way to town tomorrow with mic in hand. Folks at Home Depot may give may look at me strange but I'm used to that anyways haha...73

I bought this to try. It gives the hammered finish of the plus 2. I am not sure how close the color is yet. I have another spray can but it is just a tad dark and not the hammer finish. It looks pretty good though. I will look for that can too.

The cap doesn't look good in the picture as it does in real life.

What I need is a new battery holder that the battery sits in.

I see that Rustoleum had a hammered finish light blue that looks close. I don't think I can perfectly match the original color but if I completely strip all the existing paint of and start fresh with it then it may look pretty good. It's too bad cuz it's only a couple of chips.

So just a quick update if anyone is interested. Went to good ol Home Depot and had them color match the mic and used outdoor high gloss enamel. Not too bad of a match to tell the truth. Did what I wanted...not perfect but doesn't stand out as bad for sure. Thanks for all the ideas everybody. On another note...I have two Turner +2 mics and one has "Turner" on the PTT switch and is more of a greenish blue. The other is more blue and has "SSB Transistorized" on the PTT switch. Does anyone know which one is older and are they different in any way at all?

Post a picture of the finished product!

Well first off I'm glad you're satisfied with the outcome of your project. Now for my personal opinion, I think if you want to stay true to the original style of your mic or radio that's perfectly acceptable, but if you wanted to do a custom paint job and add your own personal touch that's fine too ,maybe not if you plan on selling it in the future but if you plan on keeping it as long as you like the heck with what anyone else thinks. but that's me
