SWR/Watt meter for the Mobile

When I ran HF mobile I used this -

I owned an LP-100 right after they came out. They are very nice, but not worth the money. I think their quite a bit more expensive than when I bought mine.

I've never owned the Ameritron mobile meter with remote. I probably will one of these days. I like the looks of them. I had a Plaster meter that had a remote. It was very nice.

I finally ordered the Ameritron mobile meter. I bought the 100/1000 watt version. I pulled it out and notice it had a 300 watt scale. Called Ameritron and they said they'd send me the correct one. Kinda like they cobbled one together from various parts. lol

Pshh, thats what palstar does too. 2000w meter has a 3000w scale, their ant tuners do it to. emailed them and they were super rude about it and didnt even answer my question. Really great meters though

Yes, they are rude. I called them with a question years ago and the dude got snippy. Course, I reciprocated and the chump hung up.

This is all I run for mobile meters. No additional connectors in the coax and tells me all I need to know. If I want to check the SWR I just use the radio's meter.

And it was cheap to assemble, too.

That's a shame to hear of their attitude, they make good products especially the only roller inducter auto-tuner.

I have their PM2000AM meter. It's rated for 2kw max but yes the scale shows a peak of 3kw.

While this may seem confusing, it's really a 100w scale peaking at 300w and 1kw scale peaking at 3kw depending on the range button selection. Think of it that way and it makes more sense.

Apparently, they only rate and recommend not running more than 2kw into it and you do so at your own risk.

I'd buy that autotuner in a heartbeat if it had more range. As it is, it's pretty tame. Their manual tuners are second to none.

The tech at MFJ seemed perplexed that my meter had the wrong display in it. He acted like he didn't believe me. Their CS is great as usual. Fedex'd me a new one the same day with a return label for the goofy one.
