Mic tests - 575M6, D104M6, RK56....and more

The thing I like the most about the 198 is the feel of it. I like a hefty mic, and that fits the bill.

I was actually surprised to hear the 636L against the rest of the NC mics. It's right there with the best of the bunch. I always noticed when I tried it modulation was down...but not so when compared to other NC mics.

No SL41 for me.....yet.

Wish you could have added the Ranger SRA-158 to the mix. The latest production is built a little bit different on the inside than the older model. Not enough modulation I think on the older and the latest models.

I need to put a new cord on it, or I would have. I have several other hand mics that were not included and haven't done anything with base mics either.

Maybe when I get motivated again...

Had a "whoops" with my new D104M6 yesterday. Soldered in a 2M resistor. Mic didn't work...checked everything over and over, then clipped out the transistor for replacement. With my cheaters on, and now that I need to order a transistor, I easily see the problem. I replaced the wrong resistor. Yeah, it was a facepalm for sure.

I also want to get my hands on an old Astatic 557 Trucker II. The circuit is identical to the D104M6, but has a 1.5M resistor already in it. Of course, I want it just because they look cool.

Is it safe to assume that this is a legitimate Turner RK-56 ? I'm not familiar with them, this guy supposedly has 4 of them, each in a white box, no clamshell hanging package.Screenshot_20211219-071900_eBay.jpg

Nope, that's the modern replica of what the telex road king 56 really was.

Look for Telex being embossed on the back and on the front also.

There's completely different innards on the only turner ones of today.

Some will say there's no difference but it's because they don't know what they were originally intended to be.

Ya based on all of the other junk he has, I figured it was too good to be true. I was enticed by the embossed "Turner" and the white box instead of clamshell packaging..........
The packaging is pretty irrelevant but can give a clue as to it's Era of conception. Original Telex came in both the white box, and clam shell depending on it's intended distribution. The ones today also come in a clam shell and were or maybe even still available in a white box.
