I have 2 kenwood ts-50 radios. the one will only put out about 10 watts max if that on all settings low med & high. not sure were to start to find the problem.
The other ts-50 evrything works fine, but when radio has been sitting for awhile when you turn it on the signal meter is at full scale then after maybe a min or 2 it slowly goes down then you can receive ok.

if anyone has any info on these to problems where to start to look were the problems are., iam not sure but i think both radios have not had caps updated

thanks, 73 VE3LTO

Those radios are of the age to start have component failures.I can easily see a re-capping them and more.
1st sounds like there is a final issue, 2nd I'm not sure.

The Radio Shop YT channel showed the process of fixing similar issues. Boiled down to bad electrolytic caps and soldering faults on the main RF/IF board.

This is just one of them:

The surface-mount electroytics in this radio seem to be a particular breakdown problem.

A good radio when it works.

Still the only model I ever have seen that yells for help by beeping 'help' through the internal speaker. Turns out this means the backup battery has died.
