Anytone Apollo II

An older thread but I've got an idea of trying to wire a rf limited EC-2018 xtr for the apollo ii. So I sold my apollo to a friend and am thinking of getting another for the car because I just can't find a suitable mounting place for the 447hpc2. In theory I could use an adapter but with echo because I like just a hint on an am only radio, I don't think the mic built in talkback will work. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Why talkback you might ask, well I need to know where to set the hint of echo. Just an idea I had while I was at the gym because for some reason even there I'm geeking out on hobby ideas.

The "built in" mike talkback is adjusted by a tiny trimmer pot inside the mike, and it tends to burn out. Just not big enough to take the audio power.

Quick way to tell if it will provide TB is to pull the mike plug out of the radio's mike socket. If it still receives, this trick in the mike won't work.

And if the radio ONLY has receiver audio with the mike plugged in, it works.

Until the tiny trimpot burns out.

What did you want to know?

Still working great, and in the box with the matching AT-778UV...
I was hoping to see further progress on your radio and the post took a turn talking about ignition noise.

88radio is running this pair on sell right now w/a jumper--$154. Tried to order the combo but wouldn't let me check out, maybe out of stock.
Thanks for the review/tech info, I will try to set the dead key to 2 watts.
We have been having a blast talking on FM with the AT-6666's, the Apollo 2 and the 203p was suggested to me for my side by side.
I would be interested to know how much draw the pair is pulling from the power supply.

All the best, Farmer
