I’ve always wondered if someone has ever changed the segmented leds in one of those to a different color? I’ve always wanted to change mine from blue to red.

I’ve always wanted to change mine from blue to red.

A couple of drawbacks, in addition to unsoldering 60 or more pins to pull the old digits. Finding new digits that match and "drop in" the holes for the old digits (and work) can be a pain.

The foil pads on the display circuit board are incredibly thin and fragile. The holes are plated-through. Removing ALL the solder to remove the old digits tends to require enough heat that foil traces lift from the board. Gets truly tedious from there, as you figure out where to string jumper wires that fix the segments that stay dark in the new digits.

I swore off repairing that digit board a while back.

Congratulations for sticking with it and getting all the digits to light up correctly!
