Base Hex Beam for 11 Meters!

I'll point you to Steve G3TXQ's website, the guy who designed the broadband hexbeam. Everything you can ever need from the theory to dimensions to modelling you need is there. Unfortunately he's SK after losing a fight with cancer a while back.

5 ft diameter is pretty compact! Dang, now I may have to try one out. I've used Radiowavz stuff in the past and it was well made.

As soon as the antenna arrives i'll have some thoughts on it. Radiowavz is backed up a little.

Different antenna. Can't steer a loop and unless you model it if it's a wavelength long or more you're going to have lots of stations you're wondering why you can't hear as they're sat in the direction of -20dB/-30dB nulls you didn't know about.

Ok the 11 meter hexbeam will be here today, and should have it up and ready to roll in about an hour or less. Yeah radiowavz was backed up a little, can't wait to see what this 2 pound antenna can do

If you get a chance, sometimes before you get it up in the air, maybe you could get me some good dimensions and maybe a copy of the manual, and I'll try and model this idea.

Well if you include the cost of the feedline,any hardware you use(pulleys), strong uv
resistant cord to pull it up at $50 you have an antenna that will also be usable on odd
harmonics.

Yes a wave length on the primary freq, steering it is not that much of a problem if you
have multilple tie off points. The 20-30db null can be an asset if you want to reject
strong signals in a particular direction.
Enclosed is a pdf file of an antenna I used with very good results during the last cycle.

SM, it has been about two months and I had forgotten all about this antenna project that 314 was all excited about.

The thread and link on the small hexbeam really caught my attention. E-Z for me to store. That’s not optional.

The collapsing pole-set comes first.

In the meantime, reading on antennas doesn’t get old. A general Web search led me right back here.

Hope 314 has had good luck. Not just the antenna.
