The Anytone "Smart CB"...Opinions?

Good points. I actually thought about doing that with mine too, but don't see any advantages.
I don't think you lose anything by doing the 10/11 meter mod. Out of the box, OP1 is open and OP2 is soldered. That locks it in 10M only mode. There are two other options: desolder OP2 for the various US and international CB bands only, or desolder OP2 and solder OP1 for coverage from 25.615 through 30.105. That's what I did. You just have to hold one button while powering up, then choose channel bank A through J where D is US CB. Attached is a list of the frequencies you have with that mod; you also have the "0" frequencies (drop 5 kc) by pressing and holding the RFG button.
I agree about running the lower power, but you can select that from the front panel as well. No need to run the high power setting unless you want to.

was gonna do the 3 pole switch but age n shakes ended that idea.but hey needed a couple 3 pole switches had to order many so i got 10 for $2.29 off ebay

If you run the high power setting on AM then you won't be able to get 100% modulation. I think I saw this on Reverend Bow's blog.
i drilled my mic voice hole out a bit like 3/16" n it perked er up
