What cap value for ssb delay

Turn the drive power up a little bit. Then it won't chatter.

That was the case with my DX500. I can only guess; not enough drive to put the keying transistor into full saturation. SSB delay cap never saw full voltage...and as soon as modulation stopped the tranisistor turned off and the cap didn’t have enough charge to make a difference...all downhill.
 
I haven't had a lot of experience working with amps.
But I did encounter chatter on an eight pill awhile back.

Turned out that:
The cap had failed and needed to be replaced.
The CAUSE of the chatter was insufficient amperage to the amp due to spliced wire and under sized wire being used from the power supply to the amp.
Put in some larger gauge continuous wire and used a bigger power supply.
No more chatter . . .

You mean 12 guage wire is not big enough power wire? Lol, no but seriously, its in the mobile on 2/0 cable connected to 2 dedicated 400 amp alternators. Soooo yea, its not a dc issue

Well, there is one way to be sure if it is getting enough current.
Touch/hold the power wires to the amp when keyed down and see if they get hot or even warm.
If they do; then there is too much resistance of current to flow.
Lack of current flow would allow the relays to chatter - which is what I had found..
