Old BearCat Tube linear amplifier

The cabinet was a catalog product made by a company called "Bud Radio".

Whoever built it used enough care to get the switches and control placed along a straight line. The cheesier home-brew amplifiers won't.

The Lafayette meter was also a part listed in their catalog made in Japan.

No idea who built this one. This brand never surfaced around here.

I just finished rebuilding one I picked up yesterday. Very rugged and well built. 1 12at7 keying tube and 4 6jsc tubes. These are all final with no driver circuit. Someone up-graded with a 4w or 10w toggle on the back. Very Old Amp. Transformer wires are silver with the asbestos cloth. With a small driver, I was impressed. Great keeper for my antique glass tubers.

Same here. I rebuilt the power supply and retubed on mine. Very tuff and well built 10/11 meter band amp. I've driven mine with 100 or so watts pep. dead key at two watts from the radio. It's a keeper as well! 73's
