My neighbor and life long Florida native has warned me about using PE jacketed coax such as lmr400 saying in his experience it doesn't hold up in the Florida sun for long and that PVC jacketed coax such as rg213 is a better choice. Anyone have any experience with the difference in weathering between the 2 jackets?

My knockoff lmr400 and lmr600 have been in the sun for 4 years. The manufacturer says its PE. That's not long but it still looks good. The white rg6 for my tv antenna was not a good choice. It turned brown and started cracking after a couple of summers.

I debated using the white "marine" jacketed rg8x but decided not to.

I have access to a spool of some rather large hard line. I'll have to go look at the size but it was for cell tower use. Unfortunately I scrapped several 5 gallon buckets of fittings several years ago.
I'm thinking of running belden rg213 non mil spec and call it good.

Tokin, a few years ago I started buying my coax from Texas Tower Erection Company, after I gave up on several other coax suppliers from the past. http://www.texastowers.com/cable/coax.htm

Note: Looks like Texas Tower only sells Davis Coax now.

I read some positive user Reviews about LMR 400 Ultra-Flex coax on the Internet, and wanted to try it. When I tried to order this cable the salesman told me that they no longer sold that particular coax any more.

I asked why, and I was told this very high-air-content insulation did not hold up well...on or under the ground, and that customers complained the Ultra-Flex would compress (migrate) down over time and would expose the center conductor at the feed point, and some claimed by a few inches to a foot or more.

I have no idea whether this issue has been fixed or not, but this is what Texas Tower told me was their reason for not handling the Ultra-Flex any more.

The white RG-6 is not uv rated, the black one seems to hold better and normally is uv rated
