Maybe someone can help me?

I am a Polish amateur radio. I have a Kenwood TS-50 transceiver since the beginning of the 1990s. I never had any problems with him!

In recent days, however, a strange phenomenon has appeared: from time
to time all the frequency digits on the LCD display go out, but all the decimal points appear. This phenomenon is preceded by a telegraphic message with the text "UL".

After some time the problem passes...

Maybe some of you know this problem and can help me somehow, for example by suggesting where to look for the fault?

Thanks in advance for any help!

The "UL" in CW means the system is UnLocked. You'll not be able to transmit in such a state since it's not guaranteed to be stable.
The TS-50 has been around for quite some time and having parts drift and fail is to be expected.
Carefully check the voltage being supplied to the back of the TS-50. Look inside and check the grounding points for the circuit board.
If these are loose or corroded then things won't work well.
The TS-50 is a bit fussy on the supplied internal voltages and you'd do well to check those as well.
The service manual is your friend, will be on the net.

Check the VCO (PLL) section and adjust for best operation. If they are not locking to the reference oscillator then that can cause your problem.
Also check the master oscillator and make sure it's performing as needed.

Also, looking at the age of the radio, check capacitors for old age ( leaking, bulging etc.)
