It's funny to read some comments about RM Italy amplifiers now. For many years they were/are considered a low end light duty inexpensive (cheap) amplifier. The KL 40, 60, and even the 203 were pretty much throw away amps. After you over drove it and burned it up you tossed it and bought another one because that was the cheaper option.
Ok, so at the bench. $62.00 shipping included. "There was one blown transistor. Looks to be due to high SWR". I didn't say anything. PAID. Can't wait to get it back. Miss my amp, and alot of local fun LOL.
I believe its because most the "good" transistor amps are gone right now unless you want to pay alot for one and people are trying other alternatives. I've looked at RMs and RocketBox myself. I do see there are other transistors coming out like a 2897C, I saw Carl has built an amp with them but haven't read up on it. I also believe that RM has been getting better as they go from what I have read. I also have read what you said and yes the lower ones are still good for that lol. I myself will be trying the 703 or the like next year for my alternative as well. See how they are for myself. I am also liking those LDMOS amps I have been seeing lately on fleabay, but still very new to that for me. I see them at high voltage but I was told they could be made for mobile by one of the sellers. We will see LOL.

Yes, website claimed amp was in stock, I ordered it, then got email saying it was out of stock.. Trying to get refund now, will have to file a claim with PayPal because they aren't responding and haven't refunded the money..
Due to what Texas star is using as DEI transistors,
they are now also throw away amps. Running any amp that goes "Pop" at anything above 1.3:1 is not
logical for a mobile application. SWR can increase due to near field objects like passing large metal semi on the interstate. Having a perfect SWR base is easy. Expecting the same in a mobile is not going to happen. Texas stars at this point in time for a mobile installation is not going to cut it, nor will any designer amps running Chinese resistors. Maybe in 2-5 years things will get better.
