Can somebody tell me about this sharp but overpriced radio?

Ok, here's my point, it's no longer "New" - it's past 10 years - his kids' grown up and retired himself - and doing spots on FOX for Racing...
Yelp I agree! Once something has been bought, and paid for, it is now "used" and worth only 60% of the purchase price. Just ask a pawn broker.

It’s very similar to the original 23Ch Cobra 29A and the Regency CR-230. Made during that same realm I'm sure (1975). It has the same push pull audio output transistors plus the chassis component layout on the backside. Personally, I’d rather have a Cobra 29A that has an updated board with diode switching instead of a relay. Great old radios. My bet is an old Cobra 29A board would fit inside that same chassis. There's a lot you can tell by looking at the backside of a radio.

Maybe New Old Stock - but certainly not new - at least anymore.

The darn radio is going to need a recap - or worse - a facelift and rust removal rework and paint job included.
Lmao, i keep this sale in my watching list and every so often i send him low ball offers. Its been on ebay for a year or more as other identical radios sold for less than a quarter of the price.

It's a Japanese CB radio that can be had on their equivalent of eBay for a mere $1,990.00 LESS than the one listed here. At a total of $9 if you can do without the $1990.00 chrome plating job. It's not rare at all, it just wasn't marketed in the USA.

I consider that radio is rare because the translated English version of Yahoo! Japan doesn’t have it listed either. Yahoo! Japan is the main auction in Japan that deals with a lot of electronics, but unsurprisingly 90% of the CB listings are Biofengs. The other one is Rakuten, but you are required to pay a usage fee plus install a browser attachment before you can even view items. My understanding is their mainly about obtaining lower prices on goods from large companies such as Old Navy, NIKE, Dick’s Sporting Goods, etc. To me, it sounds similar to BJ's Wholesale Club. In either case those options are moot for most U.S. buyers, unless of course you love dealing with the Yen exchange plus shipping costs.

Personally, I like the so called POS radios that have the potential of being refurbished into something highly functional.

It must be that chrome rear panel that makes it so valuable.....most rear panels are just so..........plain
