2sc2290 in a connex or galaxy

Looks like you could drop one of these in let's say a galaxy 33hp2, general lee, or connex 3300 and essentially have a connex 4300. I'm curious to see how it'll do with a real Toshiba 2290! The parts values look to be the same as the one available in the connex 4300.View attachment 40602 View attachment 40601 View attachment 40600
In this application with the low drive available, radios do better with the MRF455 or believe it or not, the real Toshiba 2SC2879. Both of these parts have a gain of 13db while the 2SC2290 comes in at 11.8. The original final these boards were trying to replace was the extinct MRF477 and it had a gain of 15db.

You have to match the gain of the original part or come up with more drive power to equal the output of the stock part and that assumes you have correct impedance matching first. To make a long story shorter, many of these mods produced less power than the stock part but these transistors were avaiable and they are much more rugged when it comes to handling abuse.

Like the 2510 obsolescence, i waned a board to replace the 1969 , 2312 or whatever bipolar in the case they go belly up also. I like to have options. Like the 2510, I wanted to side by side the 2290,2879, 454, 455 and the 1446 but I’m dragging my feet as I got sidetracked with an LDMOS project

They took their time getting here, haven’t had them that long. Been kinda busy but they’re on the list, trying to decide on a radio to try one in.

Suggestions? I just may have one laying around.

Nice, this day in age it's a wonder our mail even makes it. I've been hoping for a report from you about those little boards.
I remember originally they were in the 3600 boards so not sure what you might have there..... 33hp2, 3300, general lee etc.

They arrived and look pretty darn identical to the original piece... it’s nice.

Chuck, tell him what he’s won... a new car!!!

Nah, no new car but I have all those radios at my disposal,so agreed, I’ll pick one randomly and try to get started on this. I’m curious myself to see what it’s going to do and how much I’m gonna cuss.
