Jesse, I modeled your idea for a whip on a post at the back window vs. a whip Centered on the Roof. I added overlays for both models for comparison. Both models look good for match, but the overlays show the center roof with 100% more gain than the whip on a post behind the window.

I thought you were using your GR45 on your mobile.

Jesse, here is a truck model and I just changed the slant for the window shield to see how that changed the pattern effects and the gain.

1. model posted with box looking cab on the truck.

2. same model as #1 with the window shield slanted more toward the front of the truck sorta' like the nice clean lines of your truck.

This suggest that mobile models are really sensitive to differences in the body design. Checking with a nice Field Strength meter might be a good idea.

I'm looking forward to what you find with your GR45 and the coil antenna you showed us above.

Hard to beat placing the antenna on the roof...Just wasn't ready to drill the hole yet on this truck, before first trying alternant alternatives...

As for the Goldenrod, Yes it's on the truck right now, the pictures I posted are a few months old which is why you see the Predator 10K antenna on the truck...

The Goldenrod I'm not so sure is going to have anywhere near the same signal pattern as what you posted a whip having, because of the way the loops are slanted (top hat) and the over-all build of the antenna.
