Its well known that radio manufacturers in some cases will use whatever color wire they either have on hand or is cheapest at the time of purchase. So the hot wire could be blue, brown, red or any other color. This can change month to month or year to year sometimes. This would explain a difference in wire colors.
Relax, welcome to the forum. These are good folks here who have lots of knowledge to share.

I dont recall anyone telling you to change anything. Matter of fact i just re-read the posts from where you entered and no one told or even suggested you change anything. You came in here telling a tech how to do what hes been doing for DECADES in a year old thread you dredged up.
You seem to have a attitude that probably wont be tolerated here by most members. Quite frankly im done with it.
This is a low drama friendly radio forum. If you cant handle that dont let the door hit you...

Yup. Newbies are ALWAYS welcomed here however newbies that start out with attitude rarely if ever last long.

Didn't think to mention that what the pic is meant to show is the two LED wires, not the amplifier-standby side. Wasn't trying to show how to shut off the linear.

Seems RCI likes to shuffle the colors of the two wires coming from 2-pin socket J22. It's located just to the front of the driver transistor. The pin on the side nearest the outer edge is ground. The hot wire that keys the amplifier is the inboard-side pin of J22.

Whatever color wire leads to that pin is the one you break with the switch to obtain barefoot operation.

Is leaving that j22 unplugged effective if you don't need the internal amp? Is that ground needed for any particular reason?

Fwiw, and I know you're aware; your posts are super helpful, invaluable even! I'd like to again say thank you. From your knowledge drops on amps and many other topics, you add a wealth of knowledge to this forum. I'd send you all my stuff if you took mail in work.

I have no idea what this other dudes issue was. I was shocked to read it. I'll toss this out there, I'm "sure" nomadradio has forgot more then many techs know.
