Amp recommendations/ box builders

543 checkout a 6dky9 Dayton blower. Look at back pressure specs. Just because it’s big doesn’t mean a whole lot. I’ve seen some 200+ CFM fail miserable at 0.5 or 1” back pressure.

The local Grainger has one. I used a 2C647 that I had.

Bingo. CFM is nothing without the back pressure. I didn't understand this for a long time until I saw what they actually use to provide 100% duty cycle in broadcast transmitters or industrial applications. You'd think the tube was going to fly out of the socket and forget about trying to operate a live mic in the same room as the PA. I've seen many ICS applications where the blower had no problem meeting the CFM spec but couldn't achieve one third of the back pressure spec.
 
i really like the idea of kinda what Henry did and just put the chimney/ sleeve at top of tube and extend it to top cover. Then you can put more holes on deck to pump more air into anode section. Even holes under vacuum variable capacitors. This allows more airflow through the anode cooler. Instead of just the tiny holes when using a regular chimney. I have seen this done on 3000’s, 10K’s, 15K’s and such. Allows a lot more air through. Amp stays a lot cooler.

I can see where the sleeve would really help. I can feel a huge difference with the top cover off. Thanks for the blower info. It's mucho better. Loud is ok by me. The amp is remote operated from the garage. Tuned for 3885 and I can move around quite a bit and not worry about retuning. The ant tuna is also remote so the swr changing isn't an issue. That other blower needed a third of the current and was made in China. Viva La Mexico!

The knockouts are nice. That's a 6 1/4" jigsaw hole. It wouldn't be pretty without the edge trim.
I was shopping for some 4"-6" knock outs not too long ago but settled for a hole saw instead. Decided $35 was better than $100 at the time. Much more work and not quite as pretty but a grinding stone and some paint cleaned it up.

Here is an interesting 8 x mrf454 hopper built , be good for a mobile application due to the lower amp draw.

For every current amp builder out there they are all using someone else's work. Some try and add a spin of their own to the way its laid out and occasionally come up with a new way to make it look. Gone are the original builders who developed their work from Nippon, NRC, Yaesu and Kenwood. Those who first experimented with the Toshiba over the Motorola or Mitsubishi transistors of the time. Many current builders are stuck in the gravity well thats been caused by no more Toshibas. Some are going to fight to the bitter end with the HG's. Theres a few out there who are looking past and to the future with mosfets but until the graphene mosfet is readily produced heat will always be a factor with fets. Yes fets can and do work well but building monster fet amps currently is still in its early stages. No one has quite dialed in how to make them as durable as a Toshiba, Motorola or Mitsubishi bi-polar. Yet. Graphene is the answer but thats still only being used in military and commercial applications at this time but its slowly making its way to the consumer market. Those in the know about fets already have a leg up on the old pill builders and once graphene based erf9530's and even bigger ones become more widely available the days of the pill amps will be gone. And end to an era perhaps even. Theres fet builders out there now and they are chomping at the bit for more reliable fets and they are coming. Imagine building a 32 fet amp that can produce the same or even more watts than a 32 pill thats inherently biased by transistor structure instead of a special circuit. No more trashy C class amps. Big big watts with clean amps and $5.00 parts. Its coming soon and its already here in small doses. I think theres one party in Canada already making mid sized boxes that work decent but are still working out bugs. Those cheap little Italy amps are another. Once they get their hands on graphene fets they will go from cheapo's to kings and it will happen almost overnight. The pill kings will become past legends and the new hero's of the RF wars will be nerds.

I need one that comes with a 500 or 1000 amp shunt and has a big display.
Im old and i cant see shit. Everything i see online so far is under 3" wide display.
His looks bigger than that but maybe its just the camera view. I have tried texting him a couple of times with no response.
