Have not seen much of this radio

Thats not the counter dancing. That's the radio's oscillator. The counter is just reading the mail. With no clarifire I am going to bet this radio wont always read 27.1850. Mine will move around a bit as it warms up. Will make zero difference on AM but would catch my OCD for sure. Even on AM i always zero mine.
Exactly, it's really temperature sensitive. I believe it's my ocd as well

Just came to my mind about this radio, the one I have has an extremely sensitive frequency counter that likes to dance a lot even after alignment. Hopefully yours isn't so sensitive as this one is. It's absolutely the only thing that's kind of a nuisance with the rig
I have noticed that on videos of the radio. Oh well. Its supposed to be delivered tomorrow (friday) so we shall see. I will take pics and post like someone asked. I still really love the black look, very nice. Sure beats a bright Christmas tree radios (Hello stryker, omg!)

Radio came in. Took an inside20201205_110720.jpg pic. You cant turn the talkback off, wtf! I hate talkback. I can already hear myself talking, i dont need it blasting back at me through a speaker the whole time. No on off switch, ridiculous. So now i have to find out how to get rid of the talkback on it. Other then that its a nice black color. Frequency counter is stable. No jumping around, although the last digit is off by 3. 27.2053. Whatever, no big deal.

In your picture the red/white wires going to r223 should be the talkback. Add a switch, pull one wire and insulate it, or replace the pot with one that has a switch. Just my first thoughts

Cool, im just going to eliminate it all together. I dont want it. Then i can use the talkback control for a variable pwr adjust. Thank you for the help.

How's that Texas ranger works put for you so far?
Not bad at all. Frequency stable and loud clean audio. Looks great too. The only bummer is i found out about the connex cx36-hpf which is basically the same radio except it has the variable pwr control. Im gonna buy that one in a few weeks after the crazy Christmas shipping thing ends. I wish the galaxy 99v2 was back in stock too, i want to buy one of those but nobody has em in stock. Insider told me the covid 19 wiped out the factory where galaxy is made. So alot of galaxy stuff is on back order.
