C3C83A41-7004-44C0-9593-F7D8EF89ED9D.jpeg I picked up a Robyn sb505d for about 50 bucks, I can’t find much info on them. I figured it was about the same thing as a cobra 140gtl, it has a pc-385 board in like an old silver face McKinley, 140 gtl etc.

This one has a crystal channel kit in it that I plan on removing. Has anyone ever seen one like this before. It’s not an expo 100.

Looks kinda like Lou Franklin's "Expander" board setup. Uses diodes to select one crystal at a time. Has the advantage that you can make the wires to the switch fairly long without throwing the crystals off frequency. Date on the PLL chip is 1978. The radio can't be much newer than that, so no telling who that board came from.

I powered it on for the first time in who knows how long. Turned the clarifier to center slot, turned to channel 38 lsb and 30 seconds later I hear a guy that lives roughly 20 miles east of me. So I ask him if the thing works and he said yeah.

I couldn’t hardly believe it, I expected the clarifier to be way off. I put it on a dummy load and hooked up the frequency counter, with the switch flipped up this thing goes from 27.415 to something like 27.875, and seems to be stable on frequency. I’ve read nothing but horror stories about crystal kits.
This one might be ok.

Hi , do you have the schematic of this cb radio ?
Tks 73
I don’t have a schematic, maybe somebody here has one. This radio is a single conversion uniden chassis. Pc-385 board. The board in these radios is extremely similar to a cobra 140 gtl, now obviously the controls on the front of the radio are different than a 140 gtl. But if you can find a schematic for a 140 gtl, maybe that will help you.

Yes , I have noticed it . But the my problem is about some wires missing in the front panel . Anyway, I can find the way , but if I find the schematic , will be more easy.

Schematic for the main part of the radio, you'll have to stitch it together to get one comprehensible image.

Radio is covered in Sam's CB-247 if you need an alignment procedure.

One more question ; What is Sam's CB-247 ?

A book put out by Sam's publishing, number 247 in the CB series. Has the schematic, alignment procedure, pictures of the board with arrows pointing to components to help techs identify them, and usually a list of parts and their values.

You can get a copy from Sam's publishing here: https://www.samswebsite.com/en/photofact/details/index/id/147097

Or check eBay and maybe find one, that may have someone else's coffee stains on it, for a fraction of the price.

Thank you again for the tip. I think I`ll buy one on ebay. 73
