Do you guys think it’s a good summer project? Or any thoughts on if this a good DX antenna? Or just taking up space?

Someone out there may know what it is but I have no clue. Looks like enough tubing to homebrew something. DX on what band?? What mode? Vertical or horizontal? Beam? What are you looking for? Thinking you're looking for something different from what's in the background of your photos?

Are you asking about the stuff in the foreground or the antenna in the back?

Appears that he is aiming the camera at the pile on the patio, looking at his shadow....

A PDL2 is a good project anytime

The pieces in the pictures look like parts to a PDL2, 2 elements on a short boom, 2 full circle feedpoints with gamma matches, wire coiled up by the boom. I see someone else beat me to it while I was typing.

Worldwidejack wins the prize, he had the correct answer first.

I NEED TO BE BUSY BEFORE THE COVID-19 DRIVES ME CRAZY

Never had one but know folks that did and they really liked them. Can be a bit of a bitch sometimes to tune, I understand.

Specifications.
AND FROM ANOTHER FORUM ABOUT POWER MULTIPLICATIONS.
And here is the hard part. Every 3 dB of gain doubles your power. Your PDL2 with a DB gain of 12 will double power 4 times over (12/3). So if you input 4 watts the first 3 db will double it to 8 watts. The second 3 db will double the 8 to 16 watts. The third 3 db will double the 16 to 32 watts. The 4th 3 db will couble the 32 to 64 watts. That would give a multiplication factor of 16 for the antenna (64/4).

Circular polarization unfortunately does not work to reduce fading on skywave paths.

Yep. That's what I got out of it too. Doesn't sound worth the battle. Still, you've got your hands on a good antenna. Watch tightening those hubs down when you put it together, I understand they crack easily. I have a couple locals/friends with Moonrakers that had issues with the hubs not long ago. Or maybe you know that already.
