My buddy, Roger Lucas, died recently. Damn Covid got its grip on him. He was elderly and had multiple health issues. He went well above trying to avoid it. He lived in the country and avoided visitors. He had provisions delivered, but it still got him.

It's been rough for me. I lost interest in radio. It just ain't the same. We talked frequently for hours in the evening. We started talking 15 years ago. He was a fellow vet and served in the Navy during Viet Nam. I enjoyed listening to his stories.

I started radio in early 70's and have had many radio friends pass, but his passing is the hardest.

It's a bummer. This is the second friend that I've lost to that wretched virus.

Very sorry to hear about the loss, please pass our condolences to the family.
I hope you find some comfort in knowing that you guys shared more than one bond, and the time you spent sharing on the radio enriched both of your lives.
All the best my friend.

We lost another - a dedicated serviceman to his country, but one thing I'd like you to remember more is what you did for him...

You listened - he talked - the both of you enjoyed each others company. A time you cannot get back.

But what your shared, not many today, in our current situation - can do, eye-to-eye - in person.

You have a gift from this experience that lasted for more than a decade, that many of us wish we could have. The companionship and friendship - the stories to tell - that due to the nature of our enemy in the midst of us, forces us to remain isolated.

The legacy in him, continues thru you and the others that still serve.

Thank you for your service, not just for us and our country, but for taking the time to spend with another soldier whom served - in support or just as someone to come along side and spend quiet time - just so that, together that which you gave to your country - is not wasted - they are not alone.

I am so sorry for your loss, my wife lost her aunt to Covid in the fall. It's rough if you have a major health issue, I sailed through it but I feel for the others.
