Scored an MFJ 260C used. Read some Amazon purchase reviews that stated that theirs had an open circuit out of the box. How can I test this piece before transmitting into it ? I know......Mighty Fine Junk.......

Using an ohm meter ......
One lead to the center conductor, other lead to the outer conductor.
Should read 49 ~ 51 ohms .......
If it's too far out of range, will need to replace the resistor element inside. Which if you open it up, the big carbon element resistor should have an MFJ part number on it.
My MFJ 1500 watt dummy load does. I have replaced the resistor element in it once, about two years ago.
